Middle East
The Middle East evokes many reactions from candidates but it is region which is developing rapidly and overseas lawyers are in demand. The international firms particularly like Australian and New Zealand qualified lawyers as they integrate quickly, have an open mind, are generally flexible and robust. Importantly you must have very strong technical skills, be able and willing to market and possess good commercial awareness.
In essence the UAE is currently probably the safest of all Middle Eastern jurisdictions and Dubai is the most cosmopolitan and westernised Emirate. Bahrain, Oman and Qatar are also worth considering but the offices are smaller and there is now a consensus that Dubai is trying to become the regional hub for many international firms.
